The Sound Shelter

December 27th, 2015

I’ve been working out of my studio, The Sound Shelter for a few years now, but have never really publicized it much on this site. But, it defintely deserves it’s due. The Sound Shelter is a former homeless shelter that my partners and I have turned into a 32 track analog/daw room of vibe goodness. Cardboard Kids, Secret Club, Foxtrot & The Get Down and recent Carly Jamison all were recorded there. It’s got a 70’s meets modern vibe with plenty of room to stretch out, without that sterile mega studio environment. You can check it out at www.thesoundshelterstudio.com sound shelter logorock on.

Wild Ponies

July 6th, 2015

Tracking a new record for Wild Ponies. Gonna be cool.
Wild Ponies are unafraid to cross boundaries, determined to carry on a heritage that’s been decades in the making. That independent streak also holds true for Doug and Telisha Williams, who take their band name from the small-but-mighty animal that roams their native Virginia highlands.
The married duo’s music draws on old-time tradition while embracing the fierce spirit of the songwriters who inspire them – Hazel Dickens, Steve Earle and Lucinda Williams, to name a few. On tour, Doug swaps out acoustic and electric guitar, while Telisha plays upright bass. Often supported by a drummer, Wild Ponies’ dynamic live shows are assertive and engaging.wild ponies

Bearing Torches

March 10th, 2015

I’m headed to Blackbird studio to track with Kansas City’s own Bearing Torches.  Their official bio describes them like this:  Rumbling, thunderous folk rock, chock full of stories about everyday lives, sung by regular people with a little extra heart.  Chris Wilkinson will be engineering on this one, and the legendary Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Sprinsteen, Rolling Stones) mixing.

Foxtrot & The Getdown

January 2nd, 2015

Preproduction starts this month with Philadelphia rock-soul band Foxtrot & The Getdown.  These guys have been tearing up the NY, NJ, PHILI circuit and are currently being played on Philis’s massive alternative station 104.5.   All good momentum as they head into 2015 with a new record label, a new album and great management.

I’ve been writing with singer songwriter Kylie Rothfield and we’re headed into the studio to record our song “Like You Should.”  “Like You Should” will be Kylie’s upcoming single release and I’m excited to be a part of it.  This girl has incredibly soulful vocals and plays blues inspired guitar.  To find out more about Kylie, go to www.kylierothfield.com

Carly Jamison Christmas EP

August 25th, 2014

I got a call a few weeks back from one of my favorite artists, Carly Jamison, saying that she wanted to make a Christmas record asap.  Very cool…sounds like fun.  We are tracking as we speak and it’s so awesome to be back together with Carly.  Each song is so unique and original and really shows off Carly’s diverse sense of song writing.  Tracking at the Sound Shelter, with Brett Stewart engineering and Joe Costa(Ben Folds, Cardboard Kids) mixing.
