Being in Nashville, you’d think I’d produce a lot of Country music. Nothing could be further from the truth. If the artist is real with great lyrics , great songs and speaks to me personally, then I’ll produce it. It doesn’t matter the genre. Such is the case with Mike Thomas. Growing up, Phillip-Michael Scales had an uncle who played guitar for a living. He knew it was a big deal but didn’t understand the significance that his Uncle’s name was B.B. King. Even though Phillip-Michael played guitar, he shied away from soloing and most things blues. Instead, he fell in love with songwriting when an english teacher told him “A great writer can make their reader identify with anyone.” The trouble was he couldn’t find his story in the blues.
It wasn’t until his Uncle passed away, that Scales began incorporating more of the blues into his music. “These days I’m finding more of my story in the blues. A lot has led me here between politics, my identity, and of course: Legacy.” The result is a sound he calls “Dive Bar Soul” which takes a bit of indie rock story telling and couples it with the passion of the blues.
We are pleased to announce that the Tres Sasser produced track Cards On The Table will be featured in the major motion picture Gemini Man, starring Will Smith. I’m in a very creative mood while working on the new record from David Newbould. I’m so impressed with the heart of these songs and how they really make you feel something real.
Its amazing to see what Davids done with his music, getting many placements and accolades, and I’m honored to be working on this project.
Ive been working with Bearing Torches off and on since 2015. They are a mega talented band from Kansas City.
They have just released their first ep called A Thousand Kisses Deep, and it’s great introduction to their music.
I produced three tracks on the ep as well as the current single Ghost Ship.
Colin Edward is a song writing, guitar playing, singing machine. He totally gives 100% every time and has some of the coolest songs I’ve ever been a part of. Outside of his band Foxtrot & The Get Down, this is his first solo record. The band is Brad Pimberton (Ryan Adams and The Cardinals, Steve Earle), Chris Tench (Julie Chistensen, David Neubold) Colin and myself on bass. This is why I do what I do. Great project that I cant wait for everyone to hear.
